About This Topic
Catalytic materials are applied in the production of more than 80 % chemicals produced in the chemical industry. Industrial processes such as petro-chemicals, oil refinery, speciality and fine chemicals have found applications of metal modified and acidic catalysts. Precisely designed active sites in theses catalytic materials are significant for the efficient conversion of feed-stocks and selectivity to desired products. Furthermore, taking into consideration the limited natural resources available on planet earth, rational utilization of these resources are important. Hence, it is significant that the future production of chemicals and development of new process technology takes into consideration the principles of green chemistry, mitigation of climate change and development of environmental friendly technology. Enormous production of industrial residuals as side products in several current chemical production processes has to be reduced substantially, using new upgraded green process technology by utilizing novel efficient and cost effective catalytic materials. Taking into consideration the increasing cost of noble metals (Pt, Pd, Rh, Ru), inorganic supports, extrudates and chemicals for productions of catalytic materials, it is significant that these catalysts are regenerated and reused for enhanced duration of times during the production of chemicals using green process chemical technology.
