Recent Progress in Materials is an international peer-reviewed Open Access journal published quarterly online by LIDSEN Publishing Inc. This periodical is devoted to publishing high-quality papers that describe the most significant and cutting-edge research in all areas of Materials. Its aim is to provide timely, authoritative introductions to current thinking, developments and research in carefully selected topics. Also, it aims to enhance the international exchange of scientific activities in materials science and technology.
Recent Progress in Materials publishes original high quality experimental and theoretical papers and reviews on basic and applied research in the field of materials science and engineering, with focus on synthesis, processing, constitution, and properties of all classes of materials. About This Topic
The current challenge that aims at a broad optimization of transport systems with the target of making them more sustainable and easy to implement, stimulates the development of new materials concepts with increasingly advanced properties: composites, due to their intrinsic nature, are certainly among the central candidates in this context thus allowing an improvement of structural performance (static, dynamic, fatigue, impact strength, thermo-electric conductivity, electro-magnetic compatibility and so on). The term "smart" deals to indicate the possibility of adapt such material - already innovative in itself - to the different operative situations which will be employed in. This Special Issue aims to collect interesting research results (theoretical, numerical and experimental) and the most recent technological applications as well as deep reviews, where composite based materials have played a decisive role in the transport sector and beyond.
